Bhagavadgeeta - Adhyaya 18

Bhagavadgeeta - Adhyaya 18 Chapter #:  18 Chapter Name:  Moksha Sanyasa Yoga (  ಮೋಕ್ಷಸಂನ್ಯಾಸಯೋಗಃ  ) Total verses (slokas) in this chapter: 78 Adhyaya - 18, Moksha Sanyasa Yoga    Chapter of Gita (here after referred as BG) -  DVG calls this chapter as : "Tadeka Sharanata Yoga". This is the final chapter and is the longest with 78 slokas. While chapter 2 is like Introduction chapter, this chapter serves as conclusion chapter for Bhagavad Geeta summarizing all the details in earlier chapter. Lord Krsishna sums up the conclusion of the previous chapters and describes the attainment of salvation by the paths of karma (in chapters one through six) and jnana yoga (which are chapters thirteen through eighteen). The Lord explains that while doing so one must offer without reservation everything to God. The knowledge revealed gets progressively more and more confidential then in all the previous chapters. Thus this chapter is entitled: Final Revelations of the Ultimate Truth. BG: The

Bhagavadgeeta - Adhyaya 17

Bhagavadgeeta - Adhyaya 17 Chapter #:  17 Chapter Name:  Śhraddhā Traya Vibhāga Yoga (  ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾತ್ರಯವಿಭಾಗಯೋಗಃ  ) Total verses (slokas) in this chapter:  28 Adhyaya - 17, Śhraddhā Traya Vibhaga Yoga    Chapter of Gita (here after referred as BG) -  DVG calls this chapter as : "Śhraddhā Traya Viveka Yoga". This chapter details on "Shraddha". This chapter has answers for Arjuna's following question: "If every detail can be understood by scriptures, how many people would really have wisdom to understand all those details? Would it be considered superstitious if one just follows a belief without understanding scriptures because the belief / faith comes from ancestors who would have understood shastras?" BG: These are the Arjuna's questions for this chapter details. "Arjun said: O Krishna, where do they stand who disregard the injunctions of the scriptures, but still worship with faith? Is their faith in the mode of goodness(Sattvic) , passion (R

Bhagavadgeeta - Adhyaya 16

Bhagavadgeeta - Adhyaya 16 Chapter #:  16 Chapter Name:  Devaasura Sampath Vibhaga Yoga (  ದೈವಾಸುರಸಂಪದ್ವಿಭಾಗಯೋಗಃ ) Total verses (slokas) in this chapter:  24 Adhyaya - 16, Devaasura Sampath Vibhaga Yoga    Chapter of Gita (here after referred as BG) -  DVG calls this chapter as : "Daivaasura bheda viveka Yoga". Every religious scripture has clear distinction of what is good vs what is bad. Good qualities and bad qualities list are almost similar across these texts. Good qualities are synonymous to daiva sampathttu while bad qualities are to asura sampattu. A list like this is only to keep us on the check of right path to give clarity to us while in dilemma. While one might have 99 good qualities but that one bad quality in him might be a tragic flaw to collapse his entire nature and purpose. Hence a good understanding of this checklist will keep us alert on what is wrong and stay away from them. Even in chapter 7 there is a slight peek of this context where Krishna talks

Bhagavadgeeta - Adhyaya 15

Bhagavadgeeta - Adhyaya 15 Chapter #:  15 Chapter Name:  Purushottama Yoga (  ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮಯೋಗಃ ) Total verses (slokas) in this chapter:  20 Adhyaya - 15, PurushottamaYoga Chapter of Gita (here after referred as BG) -  DVG calls this chapter as : "Ashwatha Moolopasana Yoga". This is the shortest chapter of BG but yet one of the most beautiful ones. In the 13th chapter, we have seen, that there is  a "Kshetra", a "Kshetragna" and then there is one superior soul who governs both. In 14th chapter - we have seen details on triguna. In this 15th chapter - we are going to see 3 different Purushas (Purushatreya).  BG: The Supreme Divine Personality said: "They speak of an eternal aśhvatth tree with its roots above and branches below. Its leaves are the Vedic hymns, and one who knows the secret of this tree is the know-er of the Vedas" ಊರ್ಧ್ವಮೂಲಮಧಃಶಾಖಮಶ್ವತ್ಥಂ ಪ್ರಾಹುರವ್ಯಯಂ ಛಂದಾಂಸಿ ಯಸ್ಯ ಪರ್ಣಾನಿ ಯಸ್ತಂ ವೇದ ಸ ವೇದವಿತ್ | 15-1 | This same context is seen in &quo
