Chapter #: 13
Chapter Name: Kshetra Kshetragna Vibhaga Yoga ( ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಜ್ಞವಿಭಾಗಯೋಗಃ)
Total verses (slokas) in this chapter: 35
Adhyaya - 13, Kshetra Kshetragna Vibhaga Yoga Chapter of Gita (here after referred as BG) - DVG calls this chapter as : "Prakruti Purusha Viveka Yoga". This focus on details of Jnaana. How will an Intellect work? Both mind and intellect, perceive their actions through details grasped by our 5 senses. The Bhagavad Gita consists of eighteen chapters, which are composed of three segments.  The first set of six chapters describes karm-yog.  The second set describes the glories of bhakti, and for the nourishment of bhakti, it also dwells upon the opulences of God.  The third set of six chapters expounds upon tattva jñāna (knowledge scriptural terms and principles).  The present one is the first of the third set of chapters, and it introduces two terms—kṣhetra (the “field”) and kṣhetrajña (the “know-er of the field”).  We may think of the field as the body and the know-er of the field as the soul that resides within.  But this is a simplification, for the field is actually much more—it includes the mind, intellect, and ego, and all other components of the material energy that comprise our personality.  In this wider sense, the field of the body encompasses all aspects of our personality, except for the soul who is the “know-er the field.”

Background of the chapter 13 is this:
Krishna says: "Mind and Intellect are not different, they are like different faces of same coin. Mind brings us all experiences and memories in bulk while the intellect (buddhi) chooses to act on it based on present circumstances". In deeper sense (Adhyatmika): This is like a same single room with 2 doors. The mind door is "vedane" (pain) while the buddhi is jnaana door. When we enter via one door, we should learn to exit with other. happiness is also a form of pain. Bhakti is to mind while buddhi is to Jnaana.

BG:
Krishna says: His amsha is in everybody's soul as kshetragna. "O scion of Bharat, I am also the knower of all the individual fields of activity. The understanding of the body as the field of activities, and the soul and God as the knowers of the field, this I hold to be true knowledge". kshetra anubhava is bahya prapancha anubhava. kshetragna anubhava is antara anubhava. kshetra and kshetragna relation is nothing but to understand the relation between bahya and anatara - prapancha and atma.

"To rid oneself of boredom & loneliness, people usually play a game of cards in which they play from both sides (i.e. playing with oneself; this is possible in chess as well). As the game progresses, the player forgets that he is playing against himself and gives his best to win, as if he is playing against someone else. Similarly, the Creator has created this universe to get rid of his boredom. He is everywhere and is in everything. It is as if he is playing with himself - Mankutimma"

BG:
In below two verses, Krishna explains what all constitute to form the "Kshetra":

Krishna says:"The field of activities is composed of the five great elements, the ego, the intellect, the unmanifest primordial matter, the eleven senses (five knowledge senses, five working senses, and mind), and the five objects of the senses."

Krishna says: "Desire and aversion, happiness and misery, the body, consciousness, and the will—all these comprise the field and its modifications."

The above summarizes that below 24 core elements constitute kshetra: the field. This list is not limited to 24, but this is subjected to any permutation and combination leading this to infinite possibilities resulting in various personalities :
5 - Panchamahabhootagalu (air, water, earth, fire and sky) +
1 - Ahankara (Ego, I'm) +
1 - Buddhi (Intellect - one decides what is right and wrong) +
1 - Avyakta (This is secretive, beyond imgination, one which has creative power) +
5 - knowledge senses (JnanendriyagaLu - eyes, ear, nose, tongue, touch) +
5 - working senses ( karmendriyagalu - maatu, kai, kalu, payu, jananendriya - tongue, hands ,legs, rectum, genitals) +
1 -  Manassu (mind)
5 - Pancha tanmatras (indriya gocharagalu - sense objects - roopa, sparsha, shabda, rasa , gandha)

It also says the body undergoes 6 types of changes: 1) Birth 2) Grow 3) Sustain 4) Reproduce 5) kshya 6) Disappear. Thus Kshetra is bound to end / destroy but the kshtragna is not bound to end or destroy.

BG:
In below 5 verses, Krishna explains by following what, can we reach "Kshetragna":

Krishna Says: "Humbleness; freedom from hypocrisy; non-violence; forgiveness; simplicity; service of the Guru; cleanliness of body and mind; steadfastness; and self-control; dispassion toward the objects of the senses; absence of egotism; keeping in mind the evils of birth, disease, old age, and death; non-attachment; absence of clinging to spouse, children, home, and so on; even-mindedness amidst desired and undesired events in life; constant and exclusive devotion toward Me; an inclination for solitary places and an aversion for mundane society; constancy in spiritual knowledge; and philosophical pursuit of the Absolute Truth—all these I declare to be knowledge, and what is contrary to it, I call ignorance"

BG:
When Arjuna wonders how will a communication take place between "Kshetra" and "Kshetragna", Krishna says: "Within the body also resides the Supreme Lord. He is said to be the Witness, the Permitter, the Supporter, Transcendental Enjoyer, the ultimate Controller, and the Paramātmā (Supreme Soul)."

This prose highlights that there is a power in between "Kshetra" and "Kshetragna" who helps in arbitration.  He previously mentioned the Paramātmā in verse 13.2 as well, when He stated that the individual soul is the knower of the individual body while the Supreme Soul is the knower of all the infinite bodies. Paramatma is that supreme soul who is in this role of arbitrator.

"What is body? what is mind? it is but a conglomeration of atoms. There is a third one which is making both of them tune to each other. What is secret of green in grass, twinkling of stars. Tirelessly, you seek answers to them!-mankutimma-121"

To summarize what we should understand is:
1) "Kshetra" - This is not the body alone but this includes body + all non living things in this creation (the entire world)
2) "Kshetragna" - Namma Jeevatma
3)  "Paramatma"  - the Supreme Soul

Life goes on only because of this 3 things. One who sees with his intellect, the connection between the Kshetra and Kshetragna and the Paramatma faciliating it - He is the one capable of understanding Krishna.
