Chapter Name: Karma Sanyasa Yoga ( ಕರ್ಮಸಂನ್ಯಾಸಯೋಗಃ)
Total verses (slokas) in this chapter: 29
Adhyaya - 5, Karma Sanyasa Yoga Chapter of Gita (here after referred as BG) - In this chapter, Lord Krishna delineates the concepts of action with detachment and renunciation in actions explaining that both are a means to the same goal. Here He explains how salvation is attained by the pursuance of these paths. Thus this chapter is entitled: Action and Renunciation.
Arjuna now asks - Which is greater, Karma yoga or Karma Sanyasa? Krishna says: Sanyasa's ultimate goal is "tatva darshana", you can only be prepared for it, after Karma Yoga. So without Karma Yoga- you cannot get the Sanyasa.
BG:
Arjuna asks: How will a sanyasi live? Krishna says: One who is free of raaga, dwesha (desire or hatred) is nitya sanyasi. He will then go on to be free from all dualities, be detached and attain liberation.

BG:
Krishna says: Without any personal interests, when you follow karma through detachment, even if there happens to be mistakes in your karma, it wouldn't affect you and you will remain untouched by sin, just as a lotus leaf is untouched by water.

In repeating to Arjuna to not leave his Karma, Krishna says one should practice 'Asanga Karma': Sanyasis, perform their karma with their body, mind, senses and intellect but without any attachment. They do that only for self purification.

MK: This verse says, sanyasis are not free of feelings and they should indeed have feelings of cries and laughter to be respondent for other living beings but they should be able to restraint their mind against such feelings. Their empathy will only flow when they have feelings to respond to others feelings around.
